Signal Cap Upgrade Kits

If you are looking to get the most out of your silverface Fender, it’s a good idea to upgrade the signal caps throughout the circuit.

This upgrade will greatly enhance the clarity, richness & sustain of your amp.

Most silverface Fender amps were manufactured with the navy blue or brick red ITC signal caps pictured here.  These caps tend to be stifling and can be restricting the tone of your amp.  Upgrading the signal caps will greatly enhance and enrich your tone, giving your amp a much more open feel and musical quality, with more clean sustain and harmonic complexity, as well as smoother, creamier overdrive when pushed.

These caps are recommended as upgrades for silverface Fender amps, or replacements for blackface amps if the original blue 'molded' caps are missing.  We do not at this time offer signal cap kits for tweed or brownface amps.  Signal caps for tweed and brownface amps need to be ordered a la carte - as singles, and Jupiters are recommended for 'closest to original' sounding replacements in the Tweed, Brownface, and Blackface amps.

Above are the signal caps found in the Silverface era.  The brick reds are the least desirable of all signal caps in my opinion, phased in around 1968 and found through 1974.  The navy blue paktrons (not to be confused with blue MOLDED caps!) are better than the reds, but still leave a lot to be desired.
